La Révolution Surréaliste
Stage design, Placement of works, design of showcases and details
For the first time in 30 years, a set of major works from one of the most prolific periods of the 20th century were gathered together.
The exhibition begins with the early 1920’s and ends with the exile of the main actors of the movement to the United-States in the early 1940’s. It gathers more than 600 works from the Pompidou Centre’s collection, the greatest international museums and from private collections.
Strange, organic and fibrous constructions go through each exhibition room, along with palisades, passages, galleries, alcoves and curiosity cabinets. Inside these mysterious boxes are objects and scenes in niches, windows that open onto the wild and disquieting universe of the Surrealists.
